Aura of an Artist

I met with a friend sometime ago. Celebrated our struggles more than our actual achievements. Isn’t that something out of the norm? But who cares about norm? Who even sets them anyway? We do us, you do you.

A day is merely enough with our conversation. But we are both busy with our own lives and our goals. So that moment was so special, we get to celebrate in a matter of hours our years of stories and struggles.

“I believe that once the seed of imagination is planted in young minds along with a thirst for achieving big dreams, there is no turning back.” — Tererai Trent

I was introduced to the amazing Tererai Trent — a brief background Dr. Tererai Trent is a Zimbabwean-American woman whose unlikely educational success, having earned a doctorate despite being unable to go to school. A lot of people had told her that she must be an extraordinary individual, and she says “…no, I am just a girl from a tiny village in Zimbabwe, but I was given an opportunity to redesign the blueprint of my life.”

My friends’ affirmation inspired by Tererai Trent, “It’s achievable, It’s achievable!”

I like knowing inspiring people through someone's point of view and then discovering and knowing them in my own terms which is a whole other experience of not just knowing but pondering as well how much does this person have impacted that someone you know — it is exciting to have a conversance with new people, what they do, what does their life teaches you but knowing them thru the eyes of equally inspiring people you know is a different thrill.

That brought me to the topic — my friend.

One of the smartest person I’ve known, knows what it truly wants, doesn’t abide by the norms, strong and resourceful. Out of that tiny body comes a big and kind hearted person, who loves God, seeks his presence every single time, through the ups and down — my friend inspire me in a lot of aspect.

No one is perfect, although in the manner I’ve introduced my friend, it seems it is one — but not and that is alright. May come of a know-it-all type of person and persistent to somebody else, but not to me. For the longest time I’ve know my friend I have come to understand all the shortcomings, but that doesn’t overshadow all the beautiful ones. We’ve come to know one another, not fully but on a level that acquaintance of us don’t know.

You have that aura of an artist, my friend told me.

My friend got that ability to foresee and read what may come in one’s life in the future, read mine and it consistently conform with how I wish my future will be headed.

With that exact moment of daydreaming our life in the future all I could think of is — I can do it! I must! I will!

I’m excited for my future as a young adult, but there is that fear of executing plans to achieve set goals and the difficulties I may face in navigating my way to my dreams. I don’t have anything yet that I can say I am proud to achieve although I don’t see myself boasting a single thing but everyone has their own timeline and I believe that my timeline is at a point where I’m ready to face adversities: afraid to tumble down but confident to get back up, won’t be feared by life's storms for they may not come to disrupt my life but to pave the way; and delighted to get somewhere by taking risks.

I am not the strongest soldier of the Lord, but everyday I strive to be stronger than yesterday.
